October 2012

It is heating up here, so Fiona is modelling her new swim hat, business in front, party in back!  We also had a lovely dinner at our friends the Taylor's.  Before leaving, Noah had to put his animals to bed and read them a story!  At the party, the kids had a blast! Notice Noah's shirt?  He refuses to go to any party unless he is wearing that.  Fiona is all business as she surveys the scene in her hard hat.  Finally, we spent Halloween at the Koala reserve.  Maddie dressed as a kitty.  Fiona is trying to figure it all out...

28 Soden Street

These are just a few pictures of the great little house we stayed in the first couple of months.  Fi found a special cozy corner on the veranda where i would often find her.

Settling In

The first few weeks brought several milestones.  Fiona was on her feet and walking from day one, so she is now into EVERYTHING!  We dub her and Noah, "Team Destruction." Daniel also celebrated 35 years and has added a few more gray hairs in the process.

The Plane has Landed

These are some of the first images of our Australia beginnings.  Behind Fiona and I is the pool we now belong to and spend many hours cooling down.  We attended a party at the park with some new friends.  After the party we went to the McCarthy house and the kids put together a concert of kitchen pans and utensils.  It was…intense.

Today's thought

The sun comes up early every day...around 4:30am the sky starts to glow.  So, as you can imagine, everyone is up between 5 and 6am every day.  So, we have a lot of morning to enjoy a family breakfast, play, catch some cartoons and get ready for school.  Fiona eats an egg nearly every day, so this prompts me to make eggs, pancakes, or french toast for everyone, since the pan is out and hot.  The children's programming is fantastic so when tummies are full the kiddos catch Bob the Builder, Peppa Pig or other fun little commercial-free programs on ABC for kids while I get cleaned up.  Dan leaves for work around 7am, so we still have 2 hours until school!  I must admit, it's nice not to have to wake anyone up and shovel in a breakfast to rush out the door for school, still half asleep.  Maddie has only one more week of school after this one finishes.  Then it is summer break, so wrap your head around that one!
